Shana Smith is a Franklinton native and 2008 graduate of Franklinton High School. She continued her studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a BA in Communications and double minor in Social & Economic Justice and African American Studies. She later went on to Georgia State University, earning a MS in Sports Administration. In Shana’s professional career, she has worked as a Financial Aid Counselor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and currently works at Atlanta Track Club in the Greater Atlanta Area. In her current role, she serves as a project manager for various events including managing the bid process through submission for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon and the annual AJC Peachtree Road Race, the largest 10K in the world! Her volunteer opportunities passionately center around bringing awareness to issues that plague underrepresented and marginalized BIPOC communities, such as food insecurity and access to higher education, in addition to sports. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, listening to R&B, and spending time with family & friends.
